Beta Brut - Spanish Wines and SpiritsWe’d like to dedicate this blog entry to Barbadillo Beta Brut, as we think it is one of the best sparkling wines from Spain and a perfect companion for this holiday season. Beta Brut is born in Sanlúcar de Barramenda, Andalusia, in 2009, in the renowned winery Bodegas Barbadillo.

Bodegas Barbadillo is a family-owned business established in 1821 in Sanlúcar de Barramenda. Nowadays Barbadillo wines are present in more than 50 markets and it is celebrated for its range of manzanillas, Sherry wine and brandys. The key to the success of this centenary winery is not only the great attention to detail and the world-class production that has earned their reputation, but the way they know how to combine innovation and tradition to craft unique wines. In Spain, Bodegas Barbadillo has a range of vineyards in various Denominations of Origin: Somontano (Bodegas Pirineos), Ribera del Duero Vega Real) and of course, Sanlúcar de Barramenda in the province of Cádiz.

Beta Brut is a sparkling wine made from a blend of 70% Palomino and 30% Chardonnay grapes. This is an award winning, highly acclaimed wine; its many awards include the“Diamante” recognition in It is recommended to be served between 8ºC and 9ºC.the Wine & Women Competition 2014 and the‘Recommended Wine’ prize in the London International Wine Challenge 2014. This sparkling wine owes most of its success to its exquisite crafting that includes a second fermentation and a nine month long aging.

It has a straw colour with yellow hues and it is fresh and spicy to the nose. It is dry, very elegant and balanced with a hint of grape and apple to the mouth. This sparkling wine is very versatile and it matches with almost every dish, although we recommend it to go especially with seafood, cheese, caviar or dry fruits.

It is best served at a temperature between 8ºC and 9ºC.
